Georgetown Floorcoverings is a family owned and operated company that has been in continuous operation since 1954.

Herbert R. Swarthout founded the company which was originally located on 28th Street, N.W. He moved his operation under the Whitehurst Freeway in 1962.

At that time Georgetown Floorcoverings was surrounded by a flour mill, trees and passing railroad cars.

This company is known in the community as one of Georgetown’s longest standing businesses. Georgetown Floorcoverings is a proud member of the Better Business Bureau, Greater Washington Board of Trade, Georgetown Business Association (GBA) and numerous trade organizations.
